This week was crazy busy with moving and unpacking and we’re back at it this weekend but here are some interesting things worth reading. Want more? Click here to check out my other recent Sweet Links posts.
From the article, “A 2010 report issued by Child Care Aware of America found that the cost of childcare surpassed median annual rent payments in every state in the country. What this means for many parents is that it actually ends up being more economical for the spouse earning less to stay at home with the kids than it does to pay for a nanny or daycare.”
My answer? Yes. I found this interesting because this was one of the reasons I stayed home. I would have made a measly amount of take-home pay after childcare and it wasn’t worth it to us to have that and not raise our own kids. Who cares if I feel insane half the days I’m home with the girls because being a SAHM is tough. Come hell or high water, I want to responsible for screwing up my kids myself, not paying someone else to do it and regretting that for the rest of my life. So to afford being a one-income family, we rent our home instead of own, we don’t drive new cars, or travel internationally. And I’m fine with that.
And if you don’t do the same thing as me, that’s fine. I’m not judging you. In fact, read this hilarious post, Five Reasons To Stop Judging, by Bad Moms Club.
Love the image. Yea, she’s judging.
Oh, and maybe I’m not judging your parenting but I will crinkle my nose in discust at anyone slurping down a Big Gulp.
How much soda to you drink? Does this photo make you want to puke, or it just me? I am so thankful that I’m not a soda addict. Someone told me recently that they believed our fascination or addiction to sweet drinks must be related to our first drink, that sweet, tasty breast milk. Did you know human breast milk is sweet? It is!
And, here are a couple good birth stories for the road…
