Toddler Friendly Meal: Sprouted Pancakes & Bacon

Are you looking for an easy mom and toddler approved breakfast? Well, in this house, we can never go wrong with pancakes and bacon.

First things first here at our home for breakfast time. Before even getting out the mixing bowl and ingredients, I have my toddler help me unload the dishwasher and then put away the dirty dishes from the night before. She sets her place at the table and then grabs a stool and helps with the pancakes.

She gathers the supplies she can reach, like the bowl, vanilla, and mix while I get the bacon started, and grab the egg and whisk.

I use all organic ingredients, if possible, for so many reasons. Here are 10 good ones from Organic.org - Top 10 Reasons to Support Organic in the 21st Century:

1. Reduce The Toxic Load: Keep Chemicals Out of the Air, Water, Soil and our Bodies
2. Reduce if Not Eliminate Off Farm Pollution
3. Protect Future Generations
4. Build Healthy Soil
5. Taste Better and Truer Flavor
6. Assist Family Farmers of all Sizes
7. Avoid Hasty and Poor Science in Your Food
8. Eating with a Sense of Place
9. Promote Biodiversity
10. Celebrate the Culture of Agriculture

Check out the explanations. How can you refute that? Plus, I’d rather spend more of my money on good, quality food than junk food and gadgets that we think we need. And most of it isn’t too pricey over conventional food anyway. A dollar more here and there. Except for the nitrate free organic bacon at Whole Foods. Each piece is ONE DOLLAR! But it sure is tasty and since we only have it once a week or so, we eat less and eat better.

Ingredients for pancakes:

  • Arrowhead Mills Organic Sprouted Grain Pancake Mix*
  • 1 egg
  • Vanilla to taste
  • some bacon grease & milk to make the mix smooth

She stirs…

And tastes the batter…

I make little silver dollar pancakes instead of big ones so she can handle them herself and if she stops mid-pancake there isn’t much waste, even if her sister doesn’t eat it up. Also, they refrigerate well for snacks later.

All done!

I put one drop of agave nectar on each packcake for her because if I put some on the side of her plate or leave her the bottle, she uses it all up on one pancake and wants more and more. Plus, she thinks these look like breasts so she giggles.

Tasty, toddler and mama approved breakfast!

What is your favorite fast breakfast?
