Finding the Perfect Bra

I just came across this Daily Mail article on True & Co., “a sort of online fitting room that finds customers the perfect bra by way of an unprecedented scientific algorithm.”

Clicking on the website, it looks too good to be true. All bras are $45? And they will find my perfect fit? Mmmhmm. We’ll see.

Oh sh*t. I’m already stuck. Step 2 is picking what shape you are. Hell if I know. Maybe sides? Maybe bottom?

Oh and it just occurred to me. Do they have bras for breastfeeding moms? I don’t really care for the real nursing bras but I do need something that will work around boobs that are filling up and being drained all day, you know?

Let’s see what’s next…

Ummm…I like Demi & Plunge. Crap.

And what does my dress size have to do with this? It is nice that they included “given birth” in the list there though.

And I do appreciate the tips.

Next slide…

Ok, I think I’m having fun now. But when are they going to find my perfect bra?

I’ll do the rest and let you know how it does…

Oh man. They totally got me. I have to give them my email address to get my perfect bra?

Oh. Here we go. I’m the right size? But I don’t think I am. Come on now. I wouldn’t have done all that if I thought I was the right size. Maybe I didn’t do it right.

Oooo but look at these cute bras!

Now to scroll through and see if I’ll actually like any of these.

Did you give it a shot too? What do you think – Is True & Co. a worthless waste of time or not?

Tips for new moms: Nursing Bras

What is the best nursing bra?

I’ve tried a handful of “real” nursing bras and every other bra under the sun while nursing my two babies. What do I think the best bra is for nursing?

Just a regular strapless bra. Seriously.

Why?

  • Easy access. Just flip it down a little or lift your breast up. Instant food for your baby.
  • You can wear a strapless with anything. Yep. Tank tops, sweaters, T’s, whatever, with no worry about straps showing.
  • No need to go to a special store to by one. No extra trips anywhere means less time in the car with a crying newborn.
  • They give your boobs room to expand during the day when they’re filling up with milk.
  • You can put a little milk pad in there and you can’t see the circle on the outside of your shirt.
  • If you forget to wear a pad, the milk won’t leak through to your shirt.

2nd best? Balconet

Why are balconets awesome?

  • Provide a little more support
  • Super easy access for the baby
  • Just make sure you buy ones that don’t cover up too much because then it is harder to manage.
  • Sexy! You’re more than just a lactating mom, so not not feel pretty and flirty while meeting your baby’s needs? There are some pretty, flirty, lacy balconets.
  • In fact, the lacier the better so your boobs can expand during the day as needed. All of the above bras are perfect.

Mostly though, I just wear a plain ol’ shelf tank with no bra. The shelf hold pads if necessary and gives a little support. That is by far the most comfortable option but doesn’t work for all outfits. Or for ladies with larger breasts, so I’ve heard.

What do you think?

Strapless or balconet your favorite too? Or do they just sound silly to you? Hey, don’t knock ‘em til you try ‘em! They even provide a nice lift and bounce when you’ve been nursing for a while and your fresh-just-arrived milk boobs are long gone and your breasts look a little more deflated than you thought they would.

Just make sure whatever bra you choose is properly fitted. A bra that puts too much pressure on your milk ducts could cause real pain and even mastitis.
