Toddler-Approved Green Smoothie of the Day

Looking for a sweet, toddler friendly smoothie with kale? Try this.

Sweet Green Smoothie with Yogurt:

  • Put 1 whole banana (peeled) in your Vitamix (frozen or not, whatever).
  • Add a handful of frozen strawberries.
  • 2 kale leaves
  • Half an apple, chopped
  • 1 tray of ice
  • Handful of frozen blueberries
  • Pour in enough OJ & plain yogurt to cover the ice.
  • Blend for a minute. Done & yum!

Enjoy!

(This recipe made 2 full cups. Reduce if you want less. Add more ice and/or all frozen fruit if you want it more frozen.)

Hydrating, Tart Toddler Approved Smoothie

How do you convince your stubborn, snot nosed, sniffling sick toddler to stay hydrated?

In our case, with anything other than breast milk because my boobs feel like they’re going to fall off after 12 extra nursings a day?

Make a sweet, tangy, mostly ice smoothie. And you’ll like it too. It tastes like summer.

Lemon-Orange Raspberry Smoothie

  • Put 1 1/2 trays of ice in your Vitamix.
  • Add a cup of frozen raspberries.
  • Pour in enough OJ & lemonade to cover the ice, maybe an inch over.*
  • Blend for a minute. Done & yum!

If you want to add a frozen banana or a whole apple, go ahead. That’ll just make it sweeter and more delicious. I was just going for mostly ice with this one to get some water & vitamin C in my child.

*I used pulpfree organic OJ & Santa Cruz organic lemonade to make the smoothie quickly today but you can also peel a couple oranges & lemons, as I have done in the past. Just blend up the fruit first, before adding the ice and blending together, to grind up the seeds and pulp.

Enjoy!

Toddler & Mama Friendly Breakfast

What do I eat in the morning that I can also get my picky toddler to eat?

A bowl of Clover Farms Organic Vanilla Yogurt topped with whole delish walnuts and chopped strawberries and a tall glass of kale smoothie. Breakfast of champions!

We did just eat a bowl of raisin bran with a chopped banana too. I like quick meals that are easy to prepare since I also have a scooting 5 month old to manage. More easy breakfast options for us: Simple egg & cheese, pancakes made from leftover cereal, croissants with lil sausages.

What is in this morning’s kale smoothie? Well, since we already had our strawberries, banana, and yogurt out of the smoothie, I just added the following to my Vitamix:

  • 1 cup of orange juice
  • 2 kale leaves
  • Handful of frozen pineapple
  • 1 whole apple, chopped
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • Handful of frozen raspberries
  • 1 tray of ice

Blended for a minute until smooth. Done & yum!
